The Cincinnati Reds defeated the Cleveland Guardians 7-2 in an interleague victory, handing Noah Syndergaard his first loss in 10 career starts against the Reds. Stuart Fairchild and Matt McLain hit two-run homers in the fourth inning, while TJ Friedl had three hits, scored three runs and made two spectacular catches. Andrew Abbott (8-3) gave up six hits and two runs with five strikeouts in five innings. The Guardians committed a season-high four errors. The teams are due to play again on Sept. 26-27 in Cleveland.
