US Soccer and US women’s head coach Vlatko Andonovski are parting ways following the team’s elimination in the round of 16 in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. This was the earliest World Cup exit for the squad in program history. Andonovski took over as head coach in October 2019 after former head coach Jill Ellis stepped down. Despite his efforts to widen the player pool and introduce younger players, his tenure has been marked by criticism for absent tactical adjustments, questionable substitutions, and a lack of player rotation. His contract was originally set to run through the end of this year.
